Living for God

I wonder what my days would look like if I lived each day for God and not for myself. Would I be in a constant state of awe and gratefulness because I was able to clearly witness God’s grace and mercy? How many lives would I be able to positively impact? Would people look at me and be convinced that God is real and know that He is love?

“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God has prepared in advance for us to do.” Ephesians 2:10 NIV

Count It All Joy

Thank You, Lord, that even in the midst of our trials, we can have joy because we know that we have an Almighty God beside us. You give us peace that surpasses all understanding because we know that in our weakness, You are our strength.

“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds.” James 1:2 NIV

Know Your Enemy

Recognize the strategies of your enemy. The closer you get to your blessing, the more you will experience attacks. The more you speak God’s Word, the more the enemy will try to silence you. The more you love, the more opportunities you’ll be given to hate. When attacks come, that’s when you must pray harder, speak louder and love fiercer. Don’t let the enemy steal the blessings that God has meant for you.

“Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. Do everything in love.” 1 Corinthians 16:13-14 NIV

God of Comfort

Thank You, Lord, that even in my pain, You give me strength to comfort and encourage others. Thank You for the people that comfort and encourage me. You take care of us even when we don’t know how to take care of ourselves. You are truly a good God.

“Praise be to God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.” 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 NIV

Timing is Everything

All things are in God’s timing. Even if something looks dead, it’s not finished until God says so. Ignore the voices that say, “it’s over…just give up…it’s hopeless.” These are all lies of the enemy to keep you from doing what God has called you to do. Listen to the promises of God. If He said it, it’s as good as done, just as long as you stay the course and don’t give up.

“The Lord works everything to it’s proper end.” Proverbs 16:4 NIV

Secret Weapon

An excellent weapon against worry is prayer, especially praying for others. It’s hard to worry about your problems when you focus on the needs of others. Praying is an act of love and love casts out fear. It also opens the door to blessings in our lives. When our focus shifts to the needs of others we are also reminded of our current blessings. We create a thankful heart that is open to receiving more blessings. We are also sowing seeds for others to pray for us when we are in need of prayer.

You don’t need to wait until someone asks you for prayer, just look around and you’ll see that there are always plenty of opportunities to pray for someone. So, if worry is weighing you down today, take out your secret weapon and pray for someone.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7 NIV

Worry has absolutely no redeeming qualities. It doesn’t foster positive change nor does it provide a sense of well-being. In fact, it weakens the heart and causes confusion.

Trusting in God, on the other hand, has miraculous benefits. It strengthens the heart and promotes positive change. It brings peace and stability. Why would anyone choose worry over trusting an Almighty God who loves them and is more than able to provide for all of their needs?

“Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?” Matthew 6:27 NIV
