“If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” Matthew 17:20 NIV
It’s frustrating feeling as if you’re stuck in a place where you don’t belong. You’ve caught glimpses of your future and it’s so close that you can touch it. You know what you need to do to get there but you’re blocked. There’s a huge mountain standing in your way.
Your mountain can be anything holding you back. It can be fear, shame, doubt, pride, anger, laziness or just a bad attitude. You try to ignore it and walk around it, but it’s too big to ignore. You try to push it out the way but it’s too heavy. You try to kick it out the way but you just end up with a broken toe. You become exhausted and you consider giving up. Maybe you were wrong. Maybe you made too many mistakes to deserve that future. These thoughts only add to your mountain.
Finally, you realize that you need some help moving that mountain out of your way. Your friends and family can’t help because it’s too big for them. They might not have been given the opportunity to take a peek at your future. They also don’t feel the same urgency to get there as you do either. This is when you call on God, who has been waiting for you all along. After all, he is the author of your future. In a blink of an eye, he can remove that mountain. You begin to heal. The bumpy roads become smooth. The doors start to open.
Why are we so quick to open our mouths to complain to anyone who will listen but wait until the last minute to call on God for help? There is nothing he can’t do. It doesn’t matter how much of a mess we’ve made or how far we thought we tried to run away from him. He’s is still there, loving us and watching over us. He has never given up on us, so don’t you dare give up on him. If he has placed a dream inside of your heart, he will lead you to it. It doesn’t matter how many mountains you have or how big they are, with God on your side, you can say, “Move!”
“With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.” Mark 10:27 NIV
